THE NEW STANDARD OF COACHING

What sort of coach do you want to be?

One who writes generic 12 week running programs, whilst stressed and juggling a full time job?

Or one who works with a comprehensive approach, to deliver programming tailored to the individual and is known for building stronger, healthy and successful athletes?

Old school programming is archaic and dangerous. Populating someones program without truly understanding who they are is outdated and will one day be seen as negligent.

It’s doesn’t ask the important questions….

Can this individual tolerate the training load that you’re prescribing?

Do they have adequate strength and conditioning to have rehabilitated previous injuries and prevent injury in the future?

Do they have a healthy relationship with nutrition, and are you equipped to hold them accountable to this?

Do you honestly know their blood and hormonal health?

Maybe you do. But do you follow up and provide the ongoing educational and emotional support required?

Do you have a professional network around you to support you with this, or do you work in isolation, with a sole focus on writing week to week programming based off previous templates.

This standard of coaching is leaving our athletes overtrained, injured and alone to pick up the pieces.

I want to empower you as a coach to truly understand your clients with this level of care and attention to detail. I want you to know what questions to ask, how to ask them and how to provide the ongoing coaching and support necessary.

Remember each athlete you work with as a coach is a unique, complex individual who has a different physiology, sporting background, injury history and different day to day demands that we need to consider.

The future of endurance coaching is one that is comprehensive and holistic in nature, and that’s what I’d like to share with you.

BUILDING A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS

As someone who’s worked in the industry for over 15+ years now I have both experienced and witnessed first hand the highs and lows of building successful coaching businesses.

Building my knowledge, several degrees, working long hours on the gym floor, more qualifications and endless experience with a wide range of clients.

So after repeatedly getting asked about my coaching journey, how I got to where I am now and how we get the success stories we do at SFE, it was only a matter of time before I started helping guide other coaches.

What’s clear is that many coaches become coaches because they love their sport, and there is no better driver than passion.

But without clear direction, a rock solid business structure and a comprehensive coaching approach you will always struggle to build a long lasting, successful coaching business, let alone one that seriously makes a positive impact on the people you work with.

What will I learn?

Chances are you’ve already got a number of qualifications and courses under your belt.

And that’s great, because I’m not here to teach you how to squat or write a 16-20 week marathon program.

I’m here to teach you what you haven’t been taught.

To fast track you to delivering a comprehensive coaching service.

Things that have taken me the past 15+ years to learn.

Many courses and qualifications leave big gaps in areas that are fundamental to endurance coaching, whatever the standard.

From approaching certain topics with your athletes such as performance blood work, training load management, realistic return to run timelines, integration of strength and conditioning and adequate energy availability, we often learn the theory, but aren’t taught how to apply it to our athletes.

No longer is it ok to be a coach who just writes programs and looks at pacing, HR and power values.

The new standard of coaching is one that appreciates the importance of working within a multi-disciplinary team of professionals; experts who we can call upon when we don’t know the answers.
