Regardless of whether you’re training for your first marathon, embarking on a multi-day event or looking to get past injury, when working with Strength for Endurance we leave no stone unturned.

There is a common trait amongst the individuals that we work with, and that is an ‘absolute love of what they do’.

They have a passion for their sport, a hunger for adventure and a desire to keep doing what they love for many years to come.

With our team of endurance training specialists in your corner your journey, whether you’re looking for year round consistency, a marathon PB or embarking on an epic multi-day race, our aim is to make you a stronger, faster and more resilient athlete, whilst providing you with the knowledge and tools to thrive in all aspects of your health and performance.

Gone are the days of dis-jointed coaching, searching for your own Physio when an injury crops up or trying to find a coach who understands what strength training for endurance running should look like.

Tailored to your specific goals, your injury history, training experience and working around your lifestyle demands, our comprehensive approach looks after it all. Building a plan that delivers what you need and not just what you want is a priority for us.

Our team approach involves daily conversations to ensure you are getting the support you need and moving closer to your goals. From facilitating your blood and hormone health, providing nutritional support, integrating strength training, rest and managing your overall training load, we provide an elite service like no other.

Our non-negotiable respect and understanding of strength and conditioning, injury rehabilitation and injury prevention ensures that the weaknesses we’re addressing are translating directly across into run performance. Whether we’re supporting you through a race build, navigating a race taper or maintaining strength during the race season we want to ensure you’re able to train consistently and most importantly do so pain free.

At SFE we are not your average ‘Sunday night' coach juggling a stable of athletes alongside a full time job and their own training, nor are we an algorithm based app formulating your sessions. We are proud to be a team of multi-disciplinary experts from Coaches to Physiotherapists and Health Professionals, passionate about helping you get the most out of your health and performance, and the ability to communicate and support you on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.

what to expect

Initial Consultation Call

Our first step will be a virtual consultation call, which will give us the opportunity to find out more about you and for us to show you how we work. We’ll discuss your training history, establish what goals you’re working towards and any previous injuries or health concerns. Once on program we’ll set you up on our training platforms and start integrating your new program into your lifestyle.

Personalised Program

Alongside being set up on our training platform, we will provide you with an overview of your annual plan, highlighting your key races and events and giving you clarity on your run training timeline. At this time we will be evaluating your HR and pacing zones to ensure that we have a full understanding of your starting point and can program your sessions accordingly.

Individualised S&C Program

Your Strength and Conditioning program will provide you with the foundations you need for your ongoing run performance. We will be providing you with an individualised S&C program that will integrate alongside your running program to build the strength, stability, power, speed and endurance you’ve always been looking for. Furthermore it will provide you will the injury resiliency that many program cannot guarantee.

Baseline Movement Analysis & Strength Testing

Exploring your key strengths and weaknesses as part of our onboarding process is fundamental to the SFE program as we want to ensure we are tailoring our programming your individual needs and training goals. We will be reviewing your levels of joint mobility, bodyweight strength and maximal strength, all dependant on your levels of training experience.

Physiotherapy Support

Injury management is an essential component of any run coaching program. At SFE our Physiotherapy department play a strong role in overseeing our coaching to address any injury concerns and ensure the prevention of overtraining and future injury. This level of support is absolutely fundamental to your longterm training consistency.

Run Gait Analysis

This is far more comprehensive than your standard ‘ shoe shop analysis’. We are looking to identify key behaviours that occur when you are placed under intensity and fatigue, and will be used to develop your overall run and S&C programming.

Nutritional Evaluation

From the start we want to have a clear understanding of your nutritional requirements especially as we progress you training towards your performance goals. Optimal energy availability is a critical element for any athlete and something we want to be monitoring on a regular basis to prevent overtraining.

Blood and Hormonal Testing

We work closely with trusted health professionals to facilitate the analysis of your blood markers and hormonal status. We need to ensure that your body is healthy enough to meet the demands of the training programming that we will be asking of it.

Daily Accountability, Coach Support and Feedback

Our results are based upon coach and client interaction. The program that you will be following will continuously evolve as a result of numerous life, work and training factors . We provide daily and weekly feedback and accountability across multiple platforms to ensure that you feel supported and recieve the highest standard of service possible.

Jenny hadn't been able to run for 8 months…

Struggling with a frustrating achilles tendinopathy she found herself in the relentless cycle of; rest, thinking it was fine, doing a session and then not being able to walk the next day. She was convinced surgery was her only option.

We got to work straight away by addressing her weak areas, improving her mobility and gradually building the tolerance of her lower body.

As a busy teacher and mum, a big part of Jenny's journey was in restoring an optimal training/life balance.

With an approach built around a sustainable and adjustable training program adequate energy input and awareness of when to back off within 6 months Jenny was back to running half-marathon distance pain free.

HOW DO WE GET THE RESULTS WE DO?

We place client education high on our priority list. Our aim is to give you the tools to arm you with the knowledge, intuition and logic that you can apply to your training and the power to look past inadequate/ faddy advice that would potential sidetrack, overtrain and injure others around you.

The combination of using our professional knowledge and bringing the expertise of others into the SFE community allows us to deliver a wealth of content to our clients. Regular topics of conversation we cover include injury management, race fuelling and hydration, performance psychology, bloodwork and hormones to name a few.
